Worship in the Episcopal Church is based on the Book of Common Prayer, which has been used by Anglican churches since the 16th century (with periodic revisions).  The standard service on Sunday mornings is Holy Eucharist, also known as Holy Communion or the Lord's Supper.  All baptized Christians are welcome to receive communion, regardless of their denomination.  As an aid to newcomers, the entire service, including music, is printed in our Sunday bulletin.

Acolytes

This group of youngsters and adults serve at the altar by carrying the crosses and candles and assisting at communion. Training will be provided.  Contact: Diane Reid (860-267-2825).

Altar Guild

This group prepares the church for services and maintains the vessels, vestments and appurtenances for worship. It is a seemingly invisible job, requiring many hours of work from its dedicated members. Contact: Lois Dragone (860-347-5373).

Chalicers

Chalicers are volunteers who, after training, are licensed by the bishop to assist the clergy in administering the chalice at holy communion.  Contact: Veronika Webb (860-345-2610).

Lay Readers

These are the men, women, and young people who read the lessons and lead the Creed at the Eucharist, as well as leading services of Morning and Evening Prayer both in church and at nursing homes.  Contact: Veronika Webb (860-345-2610).

Memorial Flower Committee

Responsible for the lovely altar flower arrangements each Sunday and for the floral decoration of the church at Christmas and Easter, this committee also arranges for the flowers for weddings, funerals and memorial services.  Contact: Liz Wiess (860- 345-2832).

Ushers

The ushers assist the congregation at the various services and functions held in the church. They distribute Church Bulletins, guide movement in the church for the Eucharist, help with collection of the offering, and welcome newcomers.  Contact: Laura Wardner (860-635-2308).
